Swami Vivekananda has been a great source of inspiration to many. His life and message has inspired many to do the great works. For us Indians, his work is pioneering. He established harmony and applicability between science and spirituality, Vedanta and its practice in daily life. His centenary was celebrated by the whole nation with great zeal.

During the centenary celebrations of Swami Vivekananda a grand memorial was built on the mid-sea Rock at Kanyakumari. The whole nation contributed for erection of the memorial. As natural sequel to the memorial, Vivekananda Kendra, a spiritually oriented service mission was started. Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari is working throughout India through its branches and service projects.

150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda is approaching in the year 2013. For grand celebrations of this historical event, people and Government of India have started preparatory work.

Swami Vivekananda on his return from America had exhorted the Hindu society to work for the masses which were neglected. Swami Vivekananda had pointed out that between the ideal of Vedanta and the practical life of Hindu people, there was a wide gap. He wanted more and more persons to come forward to bridge that gap for serving the humanity as a spiritual practice.

Inspired by him directly or indirectly, many Hindu organizations emerged in the country. Apart from the celebrations that would be afoot for 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda in 2013, to study the impact of the message of Swami Vivekananda, Vivekananda Kendra has decided to list out all the organizations either named after Swami Vivekananda or the Hindu spiritual and service organizations which have been working in the society.
